Cardale Jones fell out of a starting job in the fall, but the former Ohio State quarterback certainly hasn't fallen off the draft radars of NFL clubs. The Bills and Cardinals are scheduled to hold private workouts with Jones, the quarterback told Sirius XM Radio.
At 6-foot-5 and 250 pounds, Jones' size and arm strength are appealing for NFL clubs looking for a developmental prospect at the game's most important position. Though he has impressive physical tools, Jones struggled last season for the Buckeyes and eventually lost the starting job after seven games to J.T. Barrett.
The Billsranked just 28th in the NFL in passing yards per game last season (208.9), though Tyrod Taylor showed promise in what was the first significant playing time of his five-year pro career. Arizona could be an ideal fit for Jones, according to NFL Media analyst Maurice Jones-Drew.
"For me, I think he goes to the Cardinals. He fits that system. He's that Bruce Arians type of guy, he's going to take the hits," Jones said Monday on NFL Network's Path to the Draft. "He's a big strong guy with a strong arm."
NFL Media analyst Daniel Jeremiah has projected Jones, because of his vast potential, to be a second-round pick. The Bills hold the No. 49 overall pick in the second round, while the Cardinals don't have a second-round choice. After picking No. 29 overall in the first round, Arizona's next choice is No. 92 overall in Round 3.
