CHICAGO -- Ohio State broke a record with 10 players selected in the first three rounds of the NFL draft Friday.
After five Buckeyes were chosen in the first round Thursday, five more went on Day 2 in Rounds 2-3: defensive lineman Adolphus Washington, wide receivers Michael Thomas and Braxton Miller, safety Vonn Bell and tight end Nick Vannett. The previous record (8) was held by Tennessee from the 2000 draft.
The pick of Miller was the record breaker; he went to the Houston Texans with the No. 85 overall choice. With a record 14 players invited to the NFL Scouting Combine, Ohio State's presence in the 2016 draft figured to challenge for the most players selected in a 7-round draft from one school since the Buckeyes themselves placed 14 players in the 2004 draft.
A look at the schools that had the most picks through the first three rounds:
Ohio State(10):Joey Bosa, Ezekiel Elliott, Eli Apple, Taylor Decker, Darron Lee, Michael Thomas, Vonn Bell, Adolphus Washington, Braxton Miller, Nick Vannett.
Alabama(7):Ryan Kelly, Reggie Ragland, Derrick Henry, A'Shawn Robinson, Jarran Reed, Cyrus Jones, Kenyan Drake.
Notre Dame (6):Ronnie Stanley, Will Fuller, Jaylon Smith, Nick Martin, KeiVarae Russell, C.J. Prosise.
Clemson (4):Shaq Lawson, Kevin Dodd, Mackensie Alexander, T.J. Green.
