Ted Thompson continues his offseason tradition of locking down his players.
The Green Bay Packers re-signed veteran defensive tackle Letroy Guion, the team annonced Friday. NFL Media's Albert Breer reported it's a three-year, $11.25 million contract, with $500,000 in escalators.
ESPN first reported the news.
The versatile Guion can play across the Packers defensive line, making him a valuable commodity for a 3-4 defense. Fellow defensive lineman B.J. Raji said his future is "uncertain at this point" after the "well-deserved" contract for teammate Guion, according to the Green Bay Press Gazette.
The 28-year-old sought a long-term deal a year ago, before he was arrested last February on a marijuana possession charge -- he wound up paying a $5,000 fine as part of a plea agreement. Guion instead signed a one-year deal with Green Bay. He severed a three-game suspension to start the 2015 season.
A year later, Guion got his long-term contract.
After six seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, Guion compiled 53 tackles and 3.5 sacks in two years in Green Bay.
