Pasadena, Calif., city leaders and the firm that manages the Rose Bowl are conducting a traffic study to measure the effect of hosting an NFL team for two or three years, the Los Angeles Times reported on Thursday.
City leaders have talked with the NFL about the possibility of using the Rose Bowl to house a team while a new football stadium is being built. Although Los Angeles has yet to secure an NFL franchise, the city has two competing stadium proposals, one downtown and one in the City of Industry.
Having an NFL team call the Rose Bowl home for even a couple seasons could generate revenue that would help the aging stadium that currently plays host to the UCLA Bruins partially offset its ongoing $152 million renovation, officials said.
Los Angeles has been without an NFL team since the end of the 1994 season.
