Did you miss Monday's edition of "Path to the Draft" on NFL Network? Catch up with this recap:
Should EJ Manuel start at quarterback?
Charles Davis and Brian Baldinger think EJ Manuel should be given every opportunity to start in Week 1, and Baldinger added that Manuel also should have to earn the respect that comes with it in the locker room. Daniel, however, says Manuel is not ready to play at this point, and like Colin Kaepernick, Manuel needs to sit and continue to develop.
Jordan's a solid addition
Jeremiah said he likes the Miami Dolphins' addition of Dion Jordan because he complements Cameron Wake very well. Wake is a power rusher, where Jordan is more of a speed and burst rusher.
Geno Smith's a value pick
Jeremiah and Davis went into the New York Jets' draft room, where Davis said he thought the Jets took Geno Smith as a value pick. Davis didn't feel this was a glaring need for the Jets, but that where Geno slid the Jets couldn't afford to pass up on him. Jeremiah made the point that Sheldon Richardson might not start on the defensive line, but he still can be effective, much like Terrell Suggs was during his rookie year when he was used as a situational pass rusher with the Baltimore Ravens.
Pugh a perfect fit
Baldinger and Jeremiah both said Justin Pugh was a perfect fit for the New York Giants. Jeremiah added that while scouting Pugh, he noticed the lineman doesn't have many negative plays, something especially important at his position.
Grading the Cowboys
Jeremiah said he gave a third-round grade to Travis Frederick and thought the Dallas Cowboys should have traded back again before selecting him. While Davis felt the Cowboys reached on Frederick, he liked the addition of Terrence Williams in the third round.
Is Matt Barkley a good fit?
Jeremiah and Davis went into the Philadelphia Eagles' draft room and started the segment by talking about Matt Barkley. Davis said Barkley could see the field in his rookie season depending on the style of offense Chip Kelly implements. Davis wonders what the selection means for Nick Foles while Jeremiah wondered whether the Eagles could implement a two-quarterback system. Davis and Jeremiah both love the selection of Zach Ertz, especially since he has the ability to line up wide. Jeremiah said Bennie Logan, Jordan Poyer and Earl Wolff all were good value picks for the Eagles.
Making an immediate impact
Davis said he sees five rookie quarterbacks who could be in competition for playing time this season. They are EJ Manuel, Geno Smith, Mike Glennon, Matt Barkley and Tyler Wilson, with Glennon going up against Josh Freeman with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers being the most interesting scenario.
