FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) -Defensive lineman Richard Seymour headed a group of seven players placed on the physically unable to perform list on Friday by the Patriots, who also released running back Justise Hairston.
Hairston was a sixth-round draft pick this year out of Central Connecticut State where his 167.9 yards rushing per game and 199.8 average all-purpose yards led the nation. He had spent the previous three seasons at Rutgers.
Besides Seymour, who made the last five Pro Bowls, New England placed on the PUP list wide receivers Troy Brown and Chad Jackson, cornerback Eddie Jackson, safety Mel Mitchell, wide receiver Donte' Stallworth and tight end David Thomas.
They can be activated at any time.
