The NFL Scouting Combine has come and gone, and the calendar flipping over to March means only one thing on the road to the 2015 NFL Draft: pro days. College Football 24/7 will be your one-stop shop for information on workouts from Alabama to Yale and everybody in between.
Here's a look at the key takeaways from Friday's pro-day action.
BYU: Several Cougars jump on NFL radar
Big draw: TE Devin Mahina
Don't forget: LB Alani Fua
Notable attendees: Scouts from 28 NFL teams headed to Provo for the workout.
The skinny: Mahina has the best shot of any of the Cougars to get drafted and had a solid outing with a 40-yard dash in the unofficial 4.7 to 4.8 range and a good day going through drills. Several off-the-radar players might have flashed enough to earn UDFA or camp-invite status, including big receivers Ross Apo and Jordan Leslie.
LSU: Scouts, coaches flock to Baton Rouge
Big draw: OL La'el Collins
Don't forget: LB Kwon Alexander
Notable attendees:Steelers GM Kevin Colbert and head coach Mike Tomlin, Giants GM Jerry Reese, Saints assistant GM Jeff Ireland.
The skinny: There was a ton of NFL personnel on hand in Baton Rouge as usual as a star-studded lineup of Tigers got one last workout in on their home turf. CB Jalen Collins did not work out after having surgery but did show up to spend plenty of time with the teams that were on hand. He confirmed that he had dinner with Steelers coach Mike Tomlin the night before the pro day, and has visits set up with the Ravens and Jaguars. Running backs Terrence Magee and Kenny Hilliard had a good showing, with Magee running a 4.56 40-yard dash and Hilliard posting an unofficial 4.60 while turning in some quality reps during drills on the field. Most of the other top LSU prospects sat out running the drills after some good numbers at the NFL Scouting Combine. La'el Collins looked plenty athletic during offensive line drills that were handled by Browns and Giants assistant coaches.
TCU: Dawson regains standing
Big draw: LB Paul Dawson
Don't forget: CB Kevin White
Notable attendees:Bengals QB Andy Dalton, scouts from nearly every team in the league.
The skinny: The Horned Frogs' pro day was a big test for Dawson after a sub-par Combine outing and he appeared to pass with good marks after a 4.78 to 4.82 40-yard dash. Additionally, the talented player looked good during movement and linebacker drills to help boost his stock. NFL Media's Gil Brandt, who was on hand for the workout, attributed Dawson's improved 40 time to better conditioning and dropping five pounds. White and fellow FS Chris Hackett both looked fluid and showed a good change of direction, ability to catch the ball, and good range during drills. Interestingly, former TCU quarterback Casey Pachall was the one throwing during pro day and could have caught a few eyes based on his good velocity and accuracy.
Also in action on Friday: Missouri Western State, Webber International.
On deck for Monday: Indiana, UMass, South Alabama.
