Buffalo Bills stars began dropping like flies in Tuesday's practice.
Minutes after All-Pro tailback LeSean McCoy limped off with a hamstring injury, coach Rex Ryan disclosed that wide receiver Percy Harvin was given a platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection for hip soreness that "never really responded."
"He's so itching to get back, that that's why we sped it up," Ryan explained. "We were going to wait four days to give him the shot. We gave it to him early. Hopefully he responds on it."
Although Ryan hopes to have Harvin back for the third preseason game versus the Steelers, he acknowledged the preseason finale at Detroit might be more realistic.
"He doesn't want to go into (the season opener) with no game work," Ryan added. "So he is trying to get back on the field."
Harvin missed the entire 2013 regular season following hip surgery. He ended up playing a prominent role in Super Bowl XLVIII, just five weeks after the Seahawks acknowledged his hip was still sore and hadn't improved.
Considering Harvin's history, the Bills should opt for a cautious approach to his return.
