David Wilson isn't out for the season with his neck injury, but he's not returning to save the New York Giants' running game anytime soon. In the meantime, the Giants will hope a familiar NFL name can revive his career.
NFL Media's Aditi Kinkhabwala reported Wednesday that the Giants planned to sign Peyton Hillis, according to a team source. Hillis and Danny Ware worked out for the team Tuesday. The Giants later confirmed the transaction.
Hillis is just two years removed from being the most regrettable "Madden" cover choice of all time, and he has bounced around the league plenty of late. He was in Kansas City last season and was released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last month.
The Giants are coming off their best rushing game of the season after putting up 123 yards against the Chicago Bears. Hillis and starter Brandon Jacobs could form the biggest one-two combination in the league. It would have been a pretty sweet tandem in 2010.
