New York Giants radio analyst Carl Banks said during Monday night's game that running back Peyton Hillis ran like he was carrying an ice wagon.
That is what happens when a player goes from the couch to "Monday Night Football."
The newest Giants running back told NFL Network's "NFL AM" on Friday that he is ready to tow a bigger load this week against thePhiladelphia Eagles.
"Most definitely," Hillis said. "I think it always takes a couple weeks to get back into shape when you're on the couch for five weeks. I'm thinking that, no matter what they ask me to do, my body is going to be in a lot better shape than it was last week, for sure."
The fact that Hillis is on an NFL roster, let alone playing a role in getting the Giants off the schnide, is fascinating. He was cut by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers earlier this season and contemplated his NFL career being over.
"It entered my mind a lot, and actually it entered my mind the last time about four or five weeks ago," Hillis said. "I finally accepted that my career was probably over, and that's why I didn't work out for a few weeks there."
The Giants are counting on a player who had accepted the NFL was done with him. That pretty much sums up the their season thus far.
