Georgia running back Todd Gurley's job is about as secure as anyone's in college football, what with back-to-back seasons averaging at least 6.0 yards per carry as the Bulldogs' backfield star.
But if UGA coach Mark Richt is looking for a back to handle the over-the-top play on the goal line, incoming freshman Nick Chubb might be just the guy. This photo of Chubb from the Class AAAA state track meet has caught internet fire:
Not bad for a guy who reportedly weighs 229 pounds. Gurley, of course, figures to be a prime early-entry candidate for next year's draft if he has another standout season, preferably a healthier one than last year, when he missed a month with an ankle injury. Backup Keith Marshall, who is returning from an ACL tear, should be a fixture in the Georgia backfield, as well.
They don't replace running backs at Georgia so much as they stack them. And Chubb doesn't look like the kind of guy 2014 non-conference foes Troy and Charleston Southern will want to see coming in for fourth-quarter mop-up duty.
