Some say Revis Island is the loneliest place in the NFL. Running routes for three hours and being completely ignored as New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis shadows your every step can get old real quick.
The "Young Money Crew" isn't the least bit concerned, according to the Beaver County Times.
"We aren't scared of anybody," Steelers receiver Mike Wallace said.
The Steelers receiving corps of Wallace, Antonio Brown and Emmanuel Sanders is one of the top units in the league. Revis and his fellow Jets cornerbacks Antonio Cromartie and Kyle Wilson are all first-round draft picks and, arguably, the No. 1 secondary in the NFL. The two clash Sunday at 4:25 p.m ET.
The talented Jets corners don't play a ton of zone, so there should be one-on-one matchups throughout the day.
"We always look forward to someone getting in our face," Wallace said. "It's just you against him. It's an opportunity to show what you can do, to show your skill set.
"It doesn't matter to me (if it's Revis or Cromartie). I like to see anybody who lines up in my face. I don't care. Whoever it is, it is. I feel we have good guys all over the field, too."
The Steelers trio is good, but the three receivers are also young. Wallace is the elder statesman in his fourth season. Revis will be a Hall of Famer and still plays like it. Cromartie is a 28-year-old former Pro Bowl selection.
Straight up, the Jets' corners are the more physical group and should have the edge. But the Steelers' crew could gain the advantage when quarterback Ben Roethlisberger extends the play and allows them to free up with their speed and quickness.
UPDATE: Revis still has not been cleared for contact as of Thursday, Rex Ryan said in a press conference. Ryan also said that Revis will not be put on a plane with a concussion, so the decision of whether Revis will play Sunday will be made right before takeoff Saturday. **
