A 6-foot-3, 265-pound played for the Oakland Raiders last season where he made 24 tackles and forced one fumble.
Groves was originally a second-round draft pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars where he played from 2008 to 2009.
The Cardinals also released wide receiver Marc Wilson.
