In Brief
» Last meeting:Philip Rivers passed for 268 yards and three touchdowns as the Chargers throttled the Chiefs, 37-7, a month ago.
» Streaks: San Diego has won four in a row, but trails the overall series, 50-47-1, including the playoffs.
» Last week: Going into Denver proved to be no problem for soaring San Diego as it won, 32-3. ... Kansas City pulled off a stunning upset, beating Pittsburgh, 27-24, in overtime.
Keep your eye on ...
San Diego's humility: The Chargers' blowout win over the Chiefs earlier this year was the exception in this series, not the rule. Despite Kansas City's recent struggles, the Chiefs were only outscored by the Chargers, 82-80, from 2007-08. San Diego should keep those numbers in mind, or else it could wind up locked in a battle the way Pittsburgh was with Kansas City last week.
Chris Chambers' motivation: The Chargers waived Chambers during their Week 8 bye, and the Chiefs immediately claimed him. Since coming to Kansas City, Chambers has paid immediate dividends, with 10 catches for 249 yards and two touchdowns in three games. He figures to be even more fired up this week to show San Diego it was wrong for getting rid of him.
