Jacksonville RB Fred Taylor muscled his way through a Steelers defense that had allowed only two 100-yard rushers in the last 63 games. Taylor finished with 147 yards on 25 carries, his fourth consecutive 100-yard rushing game. Taylor ranks 49th among NFL career rushing leaders yet is the only player in that group who has never made a Pro Bowl.

The Jaguars used the clock to control the game, holding the ball 15 minutes longer than the Steelers. Jacksonville had a 10-play, 5:06-minute touchdown drive at the end of the first half and a 20-play, 9:40 touchdown drive to open the second half. Excpet for a four-play possession to end the first half, when Ben Roethlisberger & Co. took the field for the first time in the second half, they had been on the sidelines for nearly 15 minutes of clock time, plus halftime.
