Quick Take: Jaguars-Jets

In Brief

» Last meeting:Maurice Jones-Drew rushed for two touchdowns as the Jaguars completely overwhelmed the Jetsin a 41-0 victory during Week 5 of the 2006 season.
» Streaks: Jacksonville has won four of the past five and has a 5-2 overall series edge.
» Last week: The Jaguars survived a late rally by the Chiefs and hung on for a 24-21 win. ... New York was on a bye.

Keep your eye on ...David Garrard's road woes: In four road games this year, Garrard has yet to throw a touchdown and has tossed two interceptions. Not surprisingly, Jacksonville has lost three of those four games. If the Jaguars expect to go into the Meadowlands and emerge victorious, they will need Garrard to play more like he does at home (six TDs, three interceptions).

Jacksonville's pass rush: The Jaguars have the league's lowest sack total this year, having taken down opposing quarterbacks just eight times. The team has invested several high draft picks on pass rushers in recent years and needs those players to start paying dividends. Getting pressure on Jets rookie QB Mark Sanchez and forcing him into mistakes will be crucial for the Jaguars.

Rex Ryan's bye week adjustments: New York's rookie head coach looked brilliant when the team started 3-0 and was dominating opponents. Now that the Jets are 4-4 and come off a bye week, Ryan will have to show he can make the proper adjustments to get his team back on track.

Did you know?

Jacksonville's Daryl Smith has at least 100 tackles in four consecutive seasons. ... When Garrard has a 100-plus rating as a starter, the Jaguars are 15-4. ... The Jets lead the NFL in rushing. ... With one more sack, Shaun Ellis would become New York's all-time leader in sacks.
