The Lions defense showed up its NFC North counterparts, holding Chicago scoreless in the first half and limiting the Bears to 255 total yards. Four different Lions intercepted Griese and the 30th-ranked pass defense knocked down passes and had several more near-interceptions. The Lions now have 13 interceptions and lead the league with 20 takeaways on the season.

The Lions improved to 5-2 for the first time since 2000. .. The Bears failed to score at least 27 points in a divisional game for the first time this season. ...
