Tom Brady and Randy Moss appear to have their timing down: Brady and Moss failed to connect on a touchdown in the first two weeks of the preseason, but that all changed in the first half against the Redskins. Brady hooked up twice with Moss for touchdowns for the first time since the 2007 season. And after averaging just 2.2 yards per carry over the first two weeks, Laurence Maroney made a more productive start with seven carries for 19 yards and three receptions for 30 yards. While the first team came out to start the third quarter, Brady did not because he suffered what the team deemed a sore throwing shoulder -- the result of a hit from Redskins DT Albert Haynesworth.

The Patriots need to find a punt returner to spell Wes Welker: With Welker and Kevin Faulk inactive, the punt-returning duties fell to rookie safety Patrick Chung for a second straight week, and he again looked shaky. The rookie out of Oregon muffed the first punt return off his helmet, but he made up for it with his final return, a 33-yarder to the Redskins' 23 to set up Stephen Gostkowski's game-deciding field goal.
The Redskins are still waiting for another receiver to emerge: The Redskins desperately need another offensive weapon to compliment WR Santana Moss and TE Chris Cooley in the passing game. At 6-foot-4 and 227 pounds, second-year WR Malcolm Kelly could be that guy, but he failed to make a tough catch in the end zone and finished with one reception for 11 yards. Second-year WR Devin Thomas faired a little better with three catches for 36 yards.
