Game ball
Broncos running back Selvin Young made his second start of the season count, rushing for 109 yards and a touchdown. Young continues a tradition of interchangeable running backs in Denver. He got moving early with a 34-yard run on the Broncos' opening drive to set up Jason Elam's first field goal.
Key stat
The Broncos held the Chiefs to 67 rushing yards. Kansas City dropped back to pass 13 times in the first half, compared to 14 running plays. A good balance, but kind of surprising considering that the Broncos ranked last in rush defense coming into the game, allowing more than 160 rushing yards per game.
Noteworthy
Chiefs quarterback Damon Huard was knocked out of the game in the third quarter.
