Quick Take: Redskins (8-7) at 49ers (6-9)

Last meeting
Clinton Portis rushed for three touchdowns as the Redskins trounced the visiting 49ers, 52-17, in 2005.

Streaks
The Redskins have won three of the past four matchups, but the 49ers own a 16-10-1 overall series advantage, including the playoffs. See a breakdown of the last five meetings.

Last week
Washington was eliminated from playoff contention earlier in the day, but it still snapped a three-game losing skid by beating rival Philadelphia, 10-3. ... After trailing the entire game, San Francisco scored on a desperation pass in the closing minutes and stunned St. Louis, 17-16.

Keep your eye on ...
Portis wearing down: During the first half of the season, when the Redskins were 6-2, Portis was an MVP candidate. A series of injuries have derailed the star rusher in recent weeks, however, and his production has plummeted. He will try to return to his early-season form against a 49ers defense ranked 15th against the run.

The 49ers' ageless wonder: In his 15th season, veteran WR Isaac Bruce just continues plugging away. He leads San Francisco with 59 catches, 827 receiving yards and seven receiving touchdowns. He recorded his 1,000th career reception last week and is second all-time with 14,936 yards.

Singletary's last impression: San Francisco coach Mike Singletary is 4-4 since taking over for Mike Nolan at midseason and he is hoping to keep his job after the season. His final chance to leave an impression on ownership will come this Sunday vs. Washington
