The Giants already had clinched the NFC's No. 1 seed and a first-round playoff bye. Minnesota, the North champion, is the NFC's No. 3 seed.

Vikings RB Adrian Peterson had a shaky start -- he tripped in the backfield and fumbled the ball in the first quarter. But he regrouped, and on the next series, the NFL's rushing leader dashed 67 yards for a touchdown. He finished with 103 yards, the 10th 100-yard game of his two-year NFL career.

The Giants held the ball nearly 10 minutes longer than the Vikings, and in three trips into the red zone, they were forced to go for a field goal twice.
