Raiders hire experienced assistant Wylie to tutor O-line

The Oakland Raiders hired veteran assistant Bob Wylie as offensive line coach, the team announced Monday.

Wylie is well-versed in the power-blocking scheme, which the Raiders will switch to after using more zone blocking under former coach Tom Cable.

"Bob is a spectacular teacher, motivator and drill sergeant," new Raiders coach Hue Jackson said in a statement released by the team. "His vast knowledge and experience, including last year with a team in our division, will really help us as we move forward in assembling a really good offensive line."

Wylie spent 2010 sharing the Denver Broncos' offensive line coaching duties with Clancy Barone. Entering his fourth decade as a coach at both the pro and collegiate levels, Wylie helped produce Pro Bowl berths for seven offensive linemen with the Arizona Cardinals, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Chicago Bears.

Wylie also coached tight ends for the Cincinnati Bengals and the New York Jets, and he spent time as an offensive line coach in the Canadian Football League.

Wylie also has 13 seasons of experience coaching at the collegiate level with Syracuse, Cincinnati, Colorado State, Holy Cross, Brown and Ohio.

The Raiders already had hired former Pro Bowl guard Steve Wisniewski as their assistant line coach.
