Raiders will release Boss, also expected to cut ties with Wimbley

The Oakland Raiders will release tight end Kevin Boss in a salary-cap move after he spent only one season with the team, a league source said Monday.

It is expected to be announced Tuesday, with more move likely including the release of linebacker Kamerion Wimbley, league sources said.

Boss, 28, was due a $2 million roster bonus Friday and has a $2 million base salary for next season. He signed a four-year, $16 million deal with the Raiders last August, including $8 million guaranteed, in leaving the New York Giants.

He caught 28 passes for 368 yards and three touchdowns with Oakland.

The Raiders also announced they have made one-year contract tender offers to restricted free agent defensive lineman Desmond Bryant and three exclusive rights free agents: defensive end Mason Brodine, cornerback Bryan McCann and fullback Marcel Reece. The team also confirmed it has restructured the contract of linebacker Aaron Curry.
