Rams talking to Chargers about potential L.A. move

With the Chargers stadium ballot measure failing earlier this month, the team now must decide whether or not to continue to seek options to remain in San Diego or exercise the option of joining the Rams in Los Angeles.

The deadline for a decision to relocate to L.A. must come by January 15 -- the Oakland Raiders would then have that option should the Chargers decline.

Kevin Demoff, Rams' chief operating officer, told NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport the Chargers and Rams are discussing a possible deal involving the Chargers making a decision to move to Los Angeles.

"There are no hurdles to any deal," Demoff said. "The relationship between the two owners is in a good place and, I believe the Chargers feel welcomed. Nothing stands in their way of moving if that is what they want to do. I would also say we have no insight on what their decision will be. It's only that we have worked hard to make sure their L.A. option is a good one."

After the ballot measure failed, Chargers chairman Dean Spanos said the team would wait until after the season to make any decisions on their future.

The NFL hopes the Chargers can remain in San Diego. If the team does move, they'll have a welcoming partner in the Rams waiting in Los Angeles.
