With Steve Smith Sr. out for the season -- and perhaps his career -- the Baltimore Ravens have added a wide receiver.
The Ravens signed wideout Joe Morgan, the team announced on Wednesday. They also placed Smith on injured reserve.
Morgan appeared in 21 games over four years with the New Orleans Saints -- missed all of 2013 with a knee injury and was also suspended for unspecified reasons -- catching just 14 passes for 471 yards and three touchdowns. Morgan displayed big-play ability as a rookie, but hasn't been the same since his knee injury. He has been cut twice by the Saints in 2015.
In Baltimore, Morgan will join a cornucopia of middling No. 2 and 3 receivers in Kamar Aiken, Jeremy Ross, Marlon Brown and Chris Givens. First-round rookie Breshad Perriman remains out, with no solid indication he'll finally see the field soon.
Given what he's dealt with at the receiver position this season, not enough attention is being paid to how well Joe Flacco has performed. Lesser quarterbacks would crumble throwing to the likes of Ross and Kyle Juszczyk with regularity.
