The Washington Redskins weren't interested in trading disgruntled defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth back to the Titans, coach Jeff Fishersaid Tuesday.
The trade deadline passed at 4 p.m. ET, and Fisher told the Tennessean that he's happy with the way his defensive line is playing, although he didn't deny the Titans might have been interested in re-acquiring Haynesworth.
"I think our defensive line is playing well," Fisher said. "Clearly Albert's situation has settled down there in Washington. He is under contract, and there was no interest in them as far as moving him is concerned."
According to the Tennessean, the Redskins and Titans couldn't come to terms on compensation for the two-time Pro Bowl pick. The Redskins, who gave Haynesworth a seven-year, $100 million contract in 2009, wanted a second-round draft pick. However, the Titans didn't want to give anything more than a fourth-round pick for Haynesworth, who played in Tennessee from 2002 to 2008 before leaving in free agency.
Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said Monday there was "a pretty good chance" that Haynesworth wouldn't be traded, even though the two-time All-Pro has missed three of six games and often clashed with the team this year. Redskins general manager Bruce Allen said over the weekend that Haynesworth wouldn't be dealt.
