ASHBURN, Va. (AP) -Washington Redskins receiver Antwaan Randle El had arthroscopic knee surgery Tuesday and is expected to recover in time for training camp.
Coach Jim Zorn said an MRI discovered a "floating body" that was causing an irritation in Randle El's knee.
"When they went in, whatever they found they will fix, and we will get him back going," Zorn said.
Zorn gave a preliminary estimate of a recovery time of three to four weeks, which means Randle El could be back on the field for offseason practices in June. Training camp begins in mid- to late-July.
Also Tuesday, safety Reed Doughty again missed practice to attend to his son, Micah, who recently underwent a kidney transplant. Micah came down with a virus over the weekend and his fever spiked at 105.8 degrees.
Doughty missed the final day of minicamp on Sunday to be with his son but was back on the field for Monday's offseason practice before being absent again Tuesday.
"Reed had to go to the hospital again to make sure he is taking care of his child," Zorn said.
Defensive tackle Kedric Golston also did not practice Tuesday. He sprained his right ankle during Saturday's minicamp practice.
"His ankle is still swollen, so he can't run," Zorn said. "No use in getting him out here running around."
The Redskins also made several minor roster moves, signing quarterback Derek Devine and safety Patrick Ghee. They released defensive end Alonzo Dotson, quarterback Bret Meyer, safety Kevin Mitchell and safety Justin Scott.
Devine and Ghee were both undrafted free agent rookies in training camp with Zorn's old team, the Seattle Seahawks, last year. Neither made the Seahawks' final roster.
