Reggie Bush continues to play the role of hype man for the Detroit Lions' offense.
Last month, Bush compared the Lions' scheme to the attack run by the explosive New Orleans Saints offenses that he was part of last decade.
Now Bush has taken things one step further.
"Getting to know my teammates, I'm not finding anything I didn't already know or expect," Bush said Monday, according to the Lions' official website. " -- he's great. He has a really strong arm. He seems like a very good leader. Seems like he has all the intangibles that you need in your quarterback. Calvin Johnson's a beast. Nate Burleson's another guy that's a vet and seems like a leader and a hard worker. Again, another good player.
"Honestly, I believe there's no excuse for us not to have the No. 1-ranked offense. We have all the right pieces and the necessary players here to be the top offense in the league. No excuse."
It's not crazy talk. The Lions were a top-five offense in each of the last two seasons. Adding Bush to the backfield has the potential to lift the offense both on the ground and through the air.
Then again, people have been overinflating Bush's impact for years. But the Lions will score points. The defense is the real unit to keep tabs on.
