The Indianapolis Coltsdon't plan on re-signing Reggie Wayne, but the veteran receiver might not be done catching passes.
NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Saturday that Wayne is open to playing one more year if a contender comes calling, according to a source close to the wideout.
Wayne, 36, is set to hit free agency as the league's active leader in receptions and receiving yards, while ranking third in touchdowns.
The six-time Pro Bowler has played 14 seasons, but was barely a factor down the stretch in 2014. He caught just one pass in three playoff games for the Colts, capping a season that was hindered by a torn triceps he suffered in October. He also battled through knee, elbow and groin injuries during what could be his final year in the NFL.
Wayne's former coaches are littered around the league, with Jim Caldwell in Detroit and Bruce Arians in Arizona. If he returns, Wayne doesn't figure to operate as more than a fourth or fifth option, but we wouldn't be shocked to see someone give the celebrated veteran a shot to compete for a roster spot.
