The Baltimore Ravens have wound their way through the offseason replacing a string of aging veterans with younger talent.
Ray Lewis and Ed Reed are gone on defense and Anquan Boldin -- after being shipped to the San Francisco 49ers -- is no longer part of the passing attack.
Kinkhabwala: White House welcome
Aditi Kinkhabwala says the Ravens' visit with President Obama was marked by a certain friendly familiarity. **More ...**
That leaves the field-stretching Torrey Smith as Joe Flacco's top option, a role the third-year wide receiver says he's ready for. Behind him, Baltimore's depth at wideout is concerning.
The Ravens, however, have no plans to pick up any veteran free-agent help, league sources told Aaron Wilson of The Baltimore Sun.
Brandon Lloyd and Austin Collie still are out there, along with Randy Moss, Laurent Robinson, Deion Branch and Jabar Gaffney. The glorious Chaz Schilens still is searching for work, while a completely desperate club could take a flier on Chad Johnson.
But not the Ravens. They're prepared to roll with Jacoby Jones opposite Smith, with a combination of Deonte Thompson, David Reed, Tandon Doss and LaQuan Williams fighting for snaps. Baltimore's faith in Jones is beguiling. He isn't Boldin, and neither is anyone else on the roster -- at least, not yet.
