Report: Buccaneers make Aqib Talib available for trade

There's a new sheriff in Tampa. Greg Schiano does things a little differently on the field, and he's starting to get rid of Tampa's problem children off the field.

PewterReport.com reports that the Bucs have dangled troubled cornerback Aqib Talib for a possible trade. Thus far, there have been no takers.  (And we don't expect any to emerge.)

The Buccaneers have been extremely patient with Talib through his various legal problems. He's set to go on trial for aggravated assault with a handgun on June 25. Talib has also seen his last two years cut short by injury.

In short, there's no chance the Bucs will find a taker for Talib with his trial up in the air. He's a very talented player, but his play hasn't been very consistent as a pro. He's entering the final year of his contract, and this news makes us wonder if the Bucs will simply cut bait if they take a cornerback high in the draft.

The Buccaneers recently released safety Tanard Jackson, who had long-running substance abuse issues. General manager Mark Dominik remains in place, but the team's sudden desire to get rid of the young players with legal issues suggests Schiano is running the show.
