NEW YORK -- The New York Daily News is reporting that Plaxico Burress has applied for work release for the second time during his two-year prison sentence on gun charges.
The former New York Giants wide receiver and Super Bowl XLII hero originally applied for work release in November, but it was denied by the New York Department of Correctional Services because of the nature of his crime.
The program would allow Burress to spend some portion of his sentence at home.
Burress resubmitted his work release application Friday. The Daily News reported that no decision will be made for several weeks.
Burress pleaded guilty in August to attempted criminal possession of a weapon for having a loaded handgun that went off and shot him in the leg in a nightclub.
