Facing depth issues on their offensive line, the Dallas Cowboys are digging deep for help.
Bryan Broaddus of the Cowboys' official website reported Thursday that Dallas is "looking at all possibilities at guard," including 36-year-old Brian Waters.
Waters finally was released by the New England Patriots in April after failing to report to the team for the 2012 season. The six-time Pro Bowl selection was a 16-game starter for the Patriots in 2011, but we wrote in April about his wish to play closer to Texas. His exit from the NFL after 165 starts since 2000 was hushed -- almost odd -- after so many solid seasons.
As for the Cowboys, the team is saddled with injuries to veteran guards Mackenzy Bernadeau and Nate Livings. We didn't expect Waters to be mentioned as a potential stopgap, but it's not easy to find quality line help. We'll keep an eye on Big D and bring you any updates.
