Report: Kellen Winslow generated interest from Bears

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are going to have a hard time trading Kellen Winslow, but it sounds like they will give it a shot before possibly releasing him outright. One of their first calls will likely be to the Chicago Bears.

Darlington: Freeman's burden

Bucs QB Josh Freeman might be slimmer and trimmer, but he knows he still has his work cut out for him, writes Jeff Darlington. **More ...**

The Chicago Tribune writes that "there was talk" in March the Bucs were working to trade Winslow to Chicago. The Bears instead dealt for Miami Dolphins receiver Brandon Marshall and drafted Evan Rodriguez from Temple in the fourth round.

My old boss, Mike Florio, reports at ProFootballTalk.com that Winslow has no preferred destination. Winslow, who is slated to earn $3.3 million next season, unsurprisingly prefers to keep his contract just as it is, a league source told Florio.

Chicago, which is currently looking to Kellen Davis to start at the position, could definitely use an upgrade. There is, however, the tricky matter that Winslow shares an agent with Davis.

The Buffalo Bills and Oakland Raiders are two other tight end-deficient teams that could be willing to take a look at Winslow. We're just not sure they would give up a draft pick for him.
