LSU sophomore running back Jeremy Hill is likely to turn pro after the season, according to a nola.com report on the extended eligibility of two other members of the Tigers' offensive backfield. The report also suggests that little-used junior running back Kenny Hilliard, the nephew of former LSU and New Orleans Saints running back Dalton Hilliard, might turn pro as well.
Hill ranks second in the SEC in rushing at 107 yards per game. His 6.8 yards per carry is the top average in the league among backs with 100 or more carries, and he is considered among the top prospects at his position in the league, along with three others that won't be draft-eligible in 2014: Alabama's T.J. Yeldon, Georgia's Todd Gurley and South Carolina's Mike Davis.
Hill (6-foot-2, 235 pounds) was suspended for the first game of the season after being arrested in the spring on a battery charge. In that incident, Hill was captured on video sucker-punching a bar patron outside a night club in Baton Rouge, La. Although just a true sophomore, he is eligible for the 2014 NFL Draft because he is three years removed from high school. He sat out the 2011 season while dealing with legal issues from another arrest.
Hill has scored 25 rushing touchdowns in a little less than two full seasons as LSU's top rusher.
