Chargers linebacker Shaun Phillips is being sued by a man over a 2009 incident that happened in a bar, U-T San Diego reported Saturday.
The plaintiff, 24-year-old Kam Saran, claims he was hit in the head with a champagne bottle on Nov. 23, 2009, while Phillips and other members of the Chargers enjoyed a lively celebration after beating the Denver Broncos. According to the newspaper, the suit alleges that Phillips "struck or dropped the bottle on" Saran's head, causing a laceration and closed-head injury.
The newspaper reported that a police investigation didn't result in any arrests, and a police report doesn't make it clear who would have thrown the bottle.
The lawsuit was filed in November.
