Minnesota's Maxx Williams, one of the nation's top tight end prospects, is expected to announce his intention to declare for the 2015 NFL Draft shortly after the Golden Gophers play Missouri in the Citrus Bowl on New Year's Day, according to a report on ESPN.com.
A third-year sophomore, Williams had already sought feedback from the NFL Draft Advisory Board. According to the ESPN.com report, Williams will officially announce that he will enter the draft after the Citrus Bowl, barring an injury.
Williams (6-foot-4, 250 pounds), a son of longtime NFL center Brian Williams, was a finalist this season for the John Mackey Award, given to the nation's top tight end. He had just 29 receptions for 471 yards in Minnesota's ground-oriented offense, but seven of his catches went for touchdowns.
