Report: Slow starts costs Bears WR Williams starting spot

If you purchased an authentic Roy Williams Chicago Bears jersey this summer, your investment continues to look shaky.

Williams has just four catches heading into Week 4, and FoxSports.com reported Sunday that Johnny Knox will replace him in the starting lineup against the Carolina Panthers.

Knox, who lost his starting job in the offseason when the Bears signed Williams, has superior numbers at this point with nine catches for 189 yards.

It's unclear how much less playing time Williams will have, considering even during Knox's time as a third wideout he was still seeing plenty of snaps. The Bears have been outrageously pass-happy in the past two weeks, with offensive coordinator Mike Martz calling 95 pass plays against just 20 rushing plays.

Williams' slow start includes a dropped touchdown pass in a Week 3 loss to the Green Bay Packers. The bears signed Williams in July after he was released by the Dallas Cowboys.
