'Retired' Dolphins LB Crowder interested in playing for Falcons

Retired Miami Dolphins linebacker Channing Crowder told the Atlanta Journal Constitution that he wants to play with the Atlanta Falcons next season.

"I'd love to play in Atlanta," Crowder said. "(Falcons defensive coordinator Mike) Nolan is my guy."

Crowder told the newspaper that he reached out to Nolan, who was Crowder's defensive coordinator for one season in Miami, after Nolan was hired by the Falcons.

"I told him if he needs a better linebacker let me know," Crowder said. "He texted me back and said 'I'll keep in touch.' "

Crowder, who told the newspaper that his sudden retirement before last season was due to the imminent birth of his son, is attempting to make a comeback. He told NFL.com last week that he won't try to play for the Dolphins, saying that Miami general manager Jeff Ireland "is not a good person."

The 28-year-old Crowder recorded 343 tackles in six seasons with the Dolphins, who took him in the third round of the 2005 NFL Draft. Crowder is a product of Atlanta's North Springs high school.
