Clemson walk-on wide receiver Seth Ryan, whose dad, Rex, coaches the New York Jets, broke his collarbone at practice Monday.
The school said Ryan -- a 5-foot-11, 160-pound redshirt freshman -- was making a diving coach in the end zone when he was hurt.
"Seth has been playing very well," Clemson coach Dabo Swinney said in a release from the school. "He will be out for a while. He is going to be a good player for us."
Clemson is searching for depth at wide receiver, which could give Ryan -- who played high school football at Summit (N.J.) High -- an opportunity for some playing time this fall.
Rex Ryan attended the Tigers' 38-35 victory over Georgia last season at Clemson.
