RGIII: I'm here to help Washington Redskins win

After a few weeks during which Redskins coach Jay Gruden and quarterback Robert Griffin III both made public statements they wound up regretting, Griffin is playing things close to the vest.

Asked about his reaction to being benched, Griffin repeated the same theme Thursday a few times.

"It's a coach's decision. I'm here to help us win," Griffin told reporters, via The Washington Times.

On Wednesday, when news of Griffin's benching become public, RGIII had one comment to the media on his way out of the locker room.

"I'm fine. I'll be strong," Griffin said, via ESPN.com.

As Kurt Warner pointed out on NFL Network's NFL GameDay Morning on Thursday, the game was "moving too fast" for Griffin in Gruden's system. A change was made, in part, because Gruden is accountable to all of Griffin's teammates.

It's notable that Griffin, not Kirk Cousins, will be the Redskins' backup on Sunday against Indianapolis. So if Colt McCoy is injured or struggles the rest of the season, we could still see Griffin play again. If McCoy plays well, it's quite possible Griffin has already played his last snap with the team.
