Some of the country's top concussion experts will convene Thursday for a symposium at the Santa Clara University Institute of Sports Law and Ethics, the San Jose Mercury News reported.
One of the conference's organizers, Mike Gilleran, executive director of the Santa Clara University Institute of Sports Law and Ethics, sees the public as being part of the problem. The average fan, he said, doesn't seem to believe head injuries are a major issue.
Famed neurologist Dr. Robert Cantu echoed those sentiments and said parents especially need to be aware of the issues involved with concussions.
Also, UCSF-Fresno will host the first concussion symposium in California's Central Valley on Saturday, according to the Fresno Business Journal.
