Saquon Barkley back at Giants facility after false positive COVID-19 test, ruled out due to ankle injury

Saquon Barkley is back in the building, but he won't be back on the field this weekend.

NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported that the running back returned to the New York Giants facility Friday morning after further testing revealed that a false positive test had landed him on the COVID-19 list.

The team later announced Friday that Barkley and safety Xavier McKinney, who were placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list earlier this week, were removed from the list.

However, Barkley, who is dealing with an ankle injury as well, was ruled out of New York's game against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.

The Giants had been dealing with the fallout from multiple false positive tests this week. Only running back Gary Brightwell remains on the reserve/COVID-19 list after the false positives were revealed.

Barkley’s return from a brief stint on the COVID-19 list is good news for the running back. But his ankle injury will keep him out for a fourth straight game.
