Scott Chandler may be at the end of his NFL road.
The veteran tight end acknowledged in a weekend Facebook post that his playing days could be over following a second knee surgery to repair a torn ACL.
"Another knee surgery yesterday," Chandler wrote. "This game gives and takes. The surgery will take me out of next season, and probably keep me from playing again."
Chandler spent 2015 with the Patriots, contributing 23 receptions for 259 yards and four touchdowns in 15 games (four starts). He came to New England after a five-season stint with the Bills. Chandler, 30, entered the league in 2007 as a fourth-round pick with the Chargers. He had additional stops with the Giants and Cowboys before finding career stability in Orchard Park.
The Pats released Chandler in early March with a failed physical designation. Chandler's knee was an issue throughout the season, and now we know just how serious the injury is. He first tore his ACL with the Bills in 2012.
The Patriots moved on following Chandler's release by trading for disgruntled Bears tight end Martellus Bennett.
