Scott: Jets-Giants rivalry lacks 'guys fighting over strippers'

We were way off about this decades-long tension between the Jets and Giants.

Yes, it appeared legitimate -- their constant struggle for tabloid back pages and the Jets' past humiliation at playing inside old Giants Stadium -- but it lacks that special something, according to Jets linebacker Bart Scott.

Scott, who spent seven seasons with the Ravens, claims the Big Apple animus can't touch Baltimore's issues with the Redskins.

Yes, of course, meaningful Ravens-Redskins games can be counted on one hand, but they clashed with naked rage over something more critical, says Scott:

Strippers.

"Like I said, when I was in Baltimore, I could remember with the Redskins, you had guys fighting over strippers and all kinds of stuff," Scott told WEPN-AM. "I don't sense that here. I think it is a mutual respect. I think the town is big enough for both of us."

The Jets and Giants can live peacefully in New York, but -- bear with us as we do the math -- the greater Baltimore/D.C. metro grid isn't wide enough to house the appropriate number of exotic dancers for its two pro football teams.

Sounds like a burning civic issue asking for immediate attention.
