Seattle Seahawks left tackle Russell Okung recently underwent surgery on his left foot, coach Pete Carroll confirmed Friday.
Carroll didn't specify a recovery timeline, but expected his starting blindside blocker to be healthy by the start of training camp, per MyNorthwest.com.
No details were disclosed on the exact type of surgery Okung underwent. The offensive tackle missed eight games in 2013 after suffering a toe injury early in the year.
In his four seasons with Seattle, Okung has never played 16 games. Alvin Bailey is expected to get reps on the left side until Okung is healthy.
With their one section on Day 2 of the 2014 NFL Draft, the Seahawks added 6-foot-6 offensive tackle Justin Britt in the second round. NFL Media draft analyst Mike Mayock described Britt as a "technician" blocker. He could be a spot player at left tackle in a pinch, but is better suited on the right side.
