Heading into the second week of the season, fantasy owners will have plenty of questions about roster and lineup changes based on what we've seen so far. Sometimes it's easy to overreact based on one great or poor performance. But sometimes there are some really tough calls to be made. Fantasy Football Audibles is here to help!
It always comes down to the 49ers versus the Seahawks, doesn't it? Colin Kaepernick and Russell Wilson represent two of the NFL's more dynamic quartebacks as well as two of fantasy's most intriguing options. This could be a fantasy dilemma all season long, but for this week Kaepernick gets the nod. Last week, the Bears defense didn't give up huge numbers to EJ Manuel, but the Bills quarterback didn't look completely uncomfortable either. Plus, Chicago's run defense continues to be a problem which isn't good news against a quarterback like Kaepernick. Meanwhile, the Chargers made life fairly miserable for Carson Palmer and could do the same for Wilson, who's not quite as productive away from the Emerald City.
It's a pair of AFC North running backs who had successful outings in relief of their teams' starters in Week 1. But as well as Justin Forsett played last week, Terrance West is the player with the greater long-term value. West was legitimately challenging to earn the Browns starting running back job during training camp and was likely to still have some fantasy value regardless of what happened with Ben Tate. That value increases with Tate out of action for the next couple of weeks. Forsett's Week 1 success came completely out of nowhere considering most people were banking on Bernard Pierce to be the man in Baltimore with an occasional Lorenzo Taliaferro sighting. Roll with the guy who's had upside from the beginning.
Dennis Pitta is going to be a favorite of Joe Flacco's all season long. Want proof? Look no further than the fact that Pitta saw 15 targets in Week 1, tied with teammate Steve Smith for most in the NFL. This week, look for the Steelers to take that away as much as possible. Meanwhile, the Colts defense is riddled with holes in the middle of the field which bodes well for Ertz. Plus there's the added factor of the Ravens having a short week and playing on Thursday night. Few things are worse than taking a chance on a player you're not sure about and having to look at a poor fantasy total for a couple of days leading up to Sunday. Fly Eagle, fly.
