Steelers' Mendenhall fully practices, says hammy feeling better

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Rashard Mendenhall was a full participant in Friday's practice after missing the previous two sessions with a hamstring injury, and he's questionable for this weekend's game against the Tennessee Titans.

Mendenhall, who was injured during last Sunday's loss at Houston, told NFL Network reporter Stacey Dales that his hamstring is feeling better and added that he split starting reps with Isaac Redman. If Mendenhall can't go, Redman, who has 22 carries for 107 yards this season, will start Sunday against the Titans.

Ben Roethlisberger was a full participant in practice again. The quarterback, who has been wearing a walking boot on his sprained left foot, told Dales his foot will be injected to ease the pain and that he'll wear a metal plate in an oversized shoe Sunday for added support.

The Steelers are making strides to get healthy along the offensive line. Center Maurkice Pouncey told Dales that just-signed Max Starks will start at left tackle (with Jonathan Scott to serve as backup), and Doug Legursky, who missed last week, is back healthy and will start at right guard.

The Steelers also welcome back one of their starting defensive linemen this week after Brett Keisel recovered more quickly than expected from a torn posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

But just as Keisel returns, starting defensive linemen nose tackle Casey Hampton (shoulder) and end Aaron Smith (foot) are ruled out. The duo, which has combined for six Pro Bowl selections, will be replaced by Steve McLendon and Ziggy Hood, respectively.

Other players declared out this week for Pittsburgh: linebackers Jason Worilds (quadriceps) and James Harrison (eye), running back Mewelde Moore (ankle) and left guard Chris Kemoeatu (knee).
