Stephen Jones: Cowboys haven't talked with Hardy

The Cowboys know they have to improve their pass rush with Greg Hardy on the open market and second-year defensive end Randy Gregorysuspended to open the 2016 season.

Is Dallas desperate enough to consider re-signing Hardy after missing out on Chris Long last week?

"He's a free agent," executive vice president Stephen Jones said Sunday, via The Dallas Morning News. "A free agent we haven't had discussions with, if you want to say that."

That admission doesn't bode well for Hardy's chances of returning to Dallas after a controversial season which left coach Jason Garrett unwilling to back the defensive end in season-ending press conferences.

While there's no interest in revisiting Hardy at an inflated salary such as last season's, ESPN.com recently cited one Cowboys front-office source as acknowledging the team's interest could be reignited if the price tag goes low enough.

As disruptive as Hardy has been on the field, he's been even more disruptive off the field. We find it hard to believe he's worth the trouble at any cost.
