Baltimore Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti isn't worried about free-agent-to-be Joe Flacco not being signed to an extension. He explained it simply: Trust in Ozzie.
Jeremiah: How the Ravens were built
How did Ozzie Newsome form this Super Bowl team? Former Ravens employee Daniel Jeremiah provides an inside look. **More ...**
"I read yesterday that Peyton Manning went two years under the franchise tag before they finally got his long-term deal. So that's for (general manager) Ozzie (Newsome) and his agent to figure out," Bisciotti said on NFL Network's "Super Bowl Live."
"Joe and I kind of sit on the sideline and we tease about it a little bit. We really don't get that involved in it. I trust Ozzie, it's always been done. They asked me about this with Ray Rice. They asked me about this with Haloti Ngata and on down the line and we've always signed them.
"So Joe's going to be here. Trust in Ozzie."
Bisciotti reminisced about the lead-up to the 2008 draft. The Ravens considered moving up to get Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan, but the price was too high. The staff told Bisciotti they could move back and get the "second-best quarterback with as much upside." That quarterback has led the Ravens to the playoffs every year, to three AFC Championships and now the Super Bowl.
No way they let that guy walk because of a few dollars. Especially in this passing league, where teams are desperate to find an upper-echelon quarterback.
